The Hartford Memorial Baptist Church African Relief Ministry has decided to support the HAPI Movement and their One Africa conference in Detroit. During this 2 day conference, we will host a reception at the Charles Wright museum for the esteemed scholars and speakers during the evening of April 30, 2002.
Hosting this reception will be an opportunity for us to honor these Elders and celebrate the leadership of our Pastor Charles Christian Adams, Pastor Emeritus Dr. Charles Gilchrist Adams and Rites of Passage Academy founders Dr. Manuel Pierson and Dr. Kay Lovelace. In return, the HAPI Movement will offer a screening of their documentary FREE at Hartford on Thursday, April 28 from 5-8pm (Dinner Included)
Hartford's African Rites of Passage Academy lead by Trustee Ron Spears will be traveling with the HAPI group to Egypt in 2022.
Hartford used to go to Egypt annually as part of the Kentake Rites of Passage academy founded by the late Dr. Kay Lovelace. The girls now travel to The Gambia, West Africa for Rites of Passage, so Hartford's involvement with this project keeps the memory of this program and Dr. Lovelace alive. Here are some pictures from the last trip Hartford's Kentake Rites of Passage academy went to Egypt along with some recent Hartford leaders in Egypt. African Relief Ministry VP Leslie Andrews was invited to speak in Egypt for the Michigan Women Leaders delegation and our own Dr. Brandon Waddles from the music ministry recently in Egypt.
